Sprains, Strains and Minor Injury Care in Ossining, NY

Walk-in treatment with on-site X-ray – same-day diagnosis and care

A twisted ankle, a cut that might need stitches, a burn from the kitchen. None of these is an emergency, and all of them need looking at today rather than next week.

Immediate Medical Care MD in Ossining treats minor injuries with digital X-ray and laboratory testing on site, so a suspected fracture is confirmed or ruled out before you leave. Every patient is seen by Dr. Anupama Pani, a board-certified physician.

Sprain or Fracture? We Can Tell You Today

This is the practical value of on-site imaging. A sprain is a ligament injury and a fracture is a break, and the swelling, bruising and pain can look identical from the outside. Walking on a fracture for a week because it was assumed to be a sprain is how a simple injury becomes a complicated one.

Your Visit Includes

  • Physical examination
  • X-ray if needed (done on site)
  • Same-visit results review with Dr. Pani
  • Treatment plan and strapping if needed

If It's a Sprain

You get treatment, strapping and clear guidance on recovery. We explain what to expect, how long healing takes, and what activities to avoid.

If It's a Fracture

We manage the simple ones and refer promptly for the ones that need orthopaedic care. You know what you have and what to do next before you leave.

Cuts and Lacerations

Timing matters with cuts. A wound generally needs closing within hours rather than days, so the same-day availability is the point. We clean and close wounds, use closure appropriate to the location, and update tetanus vaccination where needed, which many people are overdue for without realising it.

Facial Lacerations

Facial lacerations deserve a particular mention because the cosmetic result depends on how the wound is closed and how soon. If a cut is on the face, come in promptly. Proper closure done early makes all the difference in how a scar looks.

Burns

We treat minor burns and scalds, including cleaning, dressing and pain management. We will tell you honestly if a burn needs a specialist burn service instead, and we arrange the referral if necessary.

When to Go to an Emergency Room Instead

Go to an Emergency Room or Call 911 For:

  • A visibly deformed limb, or bone visible through the skin
  • A suspected broken hip, or an injury after a significant fall in an older adult
  • A head injury with loss of consciousness, confusion or repeated vomiting
  • Any suspected neck or spinal injury
  • Bleeding that will not stop with firm pressure
  • A large or deep burn, a burn that is white or leathery, or any burn to the face, hands, feet, genitals or across a joint
  • Numbness, loss of movement, or a limb that is cold or blue below the injury

After Your Visit

You leave with a clear plan: what to do, what to avoid, how long recovery should take and what would mean coming back. Where physical therapy or an orthopaedic opinion is the right next step, we make the referral rather than leaving you to arrange it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tell if my ankle is broken or sprained?

Yes. We take X-rays on site and review them with you during the same visit, so you do not need a separate trip to an imaging centre. You leave knowing exactly what you have and what to do about it.

Do you do stitches?

Yes, we clean and close cuts and lacerations, including facial wounds. Come in promptly, as wounds generally need closing within hours. Proper closure done early produces better cosmetic results.

Do I need a tetanus shot for a cut?

Possibly. Many adults are overdue for tetanus boosters. We can check your vaccination status and give the vaccination during your visit if you need it.

When should I go to the ER instead?

For a visibly deformed limb, bone through the skin, a head or spinal injury, uncontrolled bleeding, or a large or deep burn. See the full list in the section above for complete guidance on when emergency care is needed.

What if I need physical therapy after my injury?

If physical therapy is the right next step, we make the referral for you. You'll have a clear plan for recovery and know exactly what to do and where to go.
